No One Notices

from The Wren Notebook (entry #72)

The homely wren
remarkably usual,
a queen well disguised,
betrayed only by her song
which bursts involuntarily
at odd moments,
more reflex than intent.

No one notices the mountains either,
snow capped, brilliant
against a celestial blue.

Beauty is a miracle
and it’s yours to ignore.
